About this app

The OFFICIAL ABRSM Piano Practice Partner is a simple way to make practising your ABRSM Exam pieces more musical, enjoyable and rewarding.

"… immeasurably valuable for learning new repertoire … the app is brilliantly easy to navigate and inviting to use." BBC Music Magazine

Let Piano Practice Partner play one hand while you play the other as you learn.

Use the ABRSM Piano Practice Partner to:
• Practise each hand separately to improve your fluency – focus on your left hand technique while Practice Partner plays the right hand, for example.
• Make practice more musical and enjoyable by having a virtual partner to play along with.
• Improve your control and general piano technique, helping you to become a more fluent pianist.
• Slow down or speed up the music to a tempo that suits you, for slow careful practice.
• Set loops to repeat parts of your piece if you need to focus on one section.
• Learn to memorise your music for more secure performances.
• Personalise it! Choose from over 20 different hands to customise your Practice Partner.

Piano Practice Partner comes with 3 Examples of music from Grades Initial, 5 and 7 of the NEW ABRSM Piano Exam Pieces 2021 & 2022.

Please note that it is not possible to use standard audio files or CD recordings with Piano Practice Partner. Piano Practice Partner uses custom file formats that provide separate playback of left- and right-hand parts. This content is more feature-rich and uses very different technology to standard audio files. It is therefore only possible to buy these specialised Practice Partner pieces from within the app via in-app purchase.

Have bought a song and it hasn't appeared on the list and I am unable to play it. I have sent emails which haven't been replied.

On the one hand (so to speak) it's so much fun to play along with just one hand. Some pieces don't come alive until you've got both hands. But it's so frustrating playing a piece with rits and ralls on the slower speeds because it amplifies the delays in a completely non musical manner. It wish it were possible to have it play a piece straight with no rits and ralls while you're learning the notes. Chanson de matin, for example, is very hard to play along with when going slow.

I love the idea of this app, being able to play along with seperate hands as well as slow down and speed up is something my students and I really enjoy. However, since the update with the different character hands I haven't been able to play any music without the app closing and crashing and no amount of clearing cache or reinstalling has helped, not much use having different hands if they don't play anything, very frustrating and annoying as I've spent a fair amount of money buying the music
